Individual Assignment #2
For
my role model, I decided to interview someone who I have known for 14 years. He
is 22 years old and is currently attending University of New Mexico, where he
is about to graduate with a degree in Business and a minor in Accounting. The
reason I chose to interview this person is because of how he has helped me throughout
the years. Mr. Zarick, has strong ties to the Pennsylvania, his father attended
University of Pittsburgh and he has family living in Scranton, PA. He helped me
with the process of applying for a college, and still provides me with advice
whenever I need it.
During
the of my first semester at Chatham. Mr. Zarick told me not to push myself too
hard, because if I did then I would burn out halfway through getting my major. This
stuck with me because he reminded me that no matter how hard I work and study
that I still need to take time to recharge. When it comes to studying, the best
strategy he had was to sit down and rewrite notes around 2-3 times. He said
that if you can write the material in a way that makes sense to you then you’re
more likely to remember it for your tests. Perhaps the most important thing he
said when it comes to studying is that if you don’t know it by midnight then
stop. Staying up until 5am studying doesn’t work, all it does is make you tired
and more likely to forget everything on the test.
Throughout
college Mr. Zarick worked at Lowes as a forklift operator. When it comes to
finding work during college he said that the most important thing to remember is
that your school always needs to come first. When it comes to building a resume,
he said that even if you lack work experience to include things you’ve done in
school because showing an employer that you’re dedicated and hardworking whether
it’s in a job or in a classroom will pay off.

By
Karen Sudkamp it says, “Collaboration is critical for success, along with being
able to recognize the work of others without it negatively effecting my ego”. I feel like this a very common idea because
even though the person I interviewed didn’t say this I could tell that he
believed in it. Working with other people is something that you can’t avoid and
if you can work well with others and collaborate to get the job done then it
makes everything so much easier.
